“SOUND SCULPTURES”
Only ice seems capable of blocking the fluid, changing and immersive dimension of water – which psychoanalysis associate with femininity – but it is just an illusion, because the dimension of water is that of constant metaphorical movement, moving from different states, from solid to liquid and to gas.
The DURAZZI MILANO SPRING SUMMER 2025 collection is inspired by this biological process of regeneration and by a continuous freeing of form.
It invites one to listen to the sound of Nature, to melt into it and to conserve beauty by regenerating it and reinventing it in an interrupted cycle of creation.
In a sterile architectural venue, similar to an artist’s workshop, ice sculptures of female bodies shield within them a frozen microphone.
Preserved in time like prehistoric fossils, they emerge from a garden of fog, gradually melting to the sound of the synthesised voice of a performer, which amplifies the vibrations of the ice and starts a rhythmical and gestural dance.
As in a rite celebrating life, enveloped in clothes in perfect harmony with their movements, these figures that have been freed from the ice fluctuate between drapes and transparencies that seem memories of an ancient past.
The collection is true to the features that have become distinctive characteristics of DURAZZI MILANO: an extremely high level of tailoring, aesthetics that are associated with the equestrian world and horse riding, a taste and fascination for uniforms. While doing so, it also celebrates imperfection, the unfinished, rediscovering the DIY culture and the aesthetics of the objet trouvé, with jackets customised with metallic medals, hand-painted garments, macramé net trousers and skirts.
The penchant for experimentation is found in the use of technical fabrics, with contrasting materials that appear to be raw, directly inspired by Arte Povera, as in the jackets made in raffia fabric or leather items with detailing with a bondage flavour, confirmation of DURAZZI MILANO‘s predilection for the construction of a harmony of opposites, with minimalist rigour and unexpected, changing and unusual details.
With hybrids, metamorphosis and changes of state, the scenic representation of the SS 2025 collection reflects the attempt to represent the potential ramifications of evolution, staging a myth made of memories that seem to come from the future.
While the ice continues to melt as in a Zen fairy tale, people’s attention is grabbed by the details and, from this recreated fiction, there emerges the attempt to understand the essence of things, to go beyond appearances, to understand how different forms of intelligent life, whether biological or technological, from the atom to the processor of an AI, are all part of the same evolutionary algorithm.
The answer may lie in the ice, in the freezing of the origin of things in whiteness as dazzling as the stars whose light is just a reflection of the past, but is still a guide for someone else’s future.
